Embrace the Rainy Charms of a Lake District Staycation

OK, if you know anything about us you will know we have an unhealthy obsession with The Lake District. It dosen’t matter what the weather or the season you say the word and well be there! In fact we visit the lakes way more in autumn and across the winter season than we do in the summer months. That’s why we know a thing or two about the Lakes and we’ve had our fair share of rain, storm and snow across the years. We could write one hundred blog posts straight of the back of this one all on the lakes but lets just take one step at a time and not run before we can walk with this blogging life! lol

So here is a quick 48 hour itinerary that we did just a couple of weeks ago in February. Sit back relax, and let the magic of the lakes fill your mind. (For the next 5 minutes at least)

If you're craving a weekend getaway that's equal parts breathtaking scenery and cozy charm, look no further than the magical wonderland of the Lake District. Buckle up as we embark on a journey filled with scenic strolls, quaint towns, and, of course, plenty of pub pit stops!

First up on our itinerary is Little Langdale, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of the Lakes. Lace up those hiking boots and get ready to traverse a circular walk that's straight out of a fairy tale. Our route takes us past the enchanting Hodge Close Green Slate Quarry, where you'll feel like you've stepped into a scene from a fantasy novel. Next stop: The Slate Cathedral, a majestic formation of towering rock walls that'll leave you feeling positively minuscule in comparison.

But wait, the adventure doesn't end there! Make your way to Slater's Bridge, a picturesque stone footbridge that's practically begging to be Instagrammed. From there, it's just a hop, skip, and a jump to our final destination: The Three Shires Pub. Trust us, there's no better way to cap off a day of hiking than with a pint of local ale and a hearty meal by the fireside.

Now, let's talk about Keswick – a charming market town that's bursting with character. Spend a leisurely morning perusing the stalls at Keswick Market, (Thursdays and Saturdays) where you'll find everything from handmade crafts to delicious local produce. And if you're feeling peckish, be sure to sample some of the mouthwatering treats on offer – you won't be disappointed!

Craving a mouthwatering burger in Keswick? Look no further than The Round Burger! With juicy patties, gourmet toppings, and a cozy atmosphere, it's a must-visit spot for burger lovers. From classic cheeseburgers to loaded fries, there's something to satisfy every craving. Don't miss out on this delicious dining experience and some great cocktails.

I don’t know about you but being the coffee snobs that we are we always try to seek out an artisinal coffee house. Look no further than Yonder Coffee House! Nestled in the heart of town, Yonder offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for catching up with friends or getting lost in a good book. Their expertly brewed coffee and artisanal pastries are sure to delight your taste buds. So whether you're in need of a caffeine boost or simply craving a quiet moment of relaxation, Yonder Coffee House is the place to be.

Next on our agenda is Derwent Water Lake, a shimmering oasis of tranquility just waiting to be explored. Take a leisurely stroll along the lakeshore, soaking in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and lush greenery. And don't forget to make a pit stop at Lodore Falls – a breathtaking cascade that'll have you reaching for your camera faster than you can say "cheese"!

So there you have it – a weekend in the Lakes that's jam-packed with adventure, beauty, and plenty of good old-fashioned fun. Whether you're hiking through rugged landscapes, exploring charming towns, or simply soaking in the scenery, the Lake District is guaranteed to steal a piece of your heart – and leave you counting down the days until your next visit. Cheers to unforgettable weekends and memories that'll last a lifetime!
